Chief Marshal Mark Swistek Introduction Letter

Dear Town of Long Beach Residents:

My name is Mark Swistek, I am extremely honored and humbled to have the opportunity to serve the Long Beach Police Department as your Chief Marshal upon the recent retirement of Chief Marshal Robert “Bob” Sulkowski in January.

My personal mission and commitment to the Town is to provide professional police services, built on a foundation of essential partnerships with the Town government and the residents we serve. To achieve this, the Long Beach Police Department will strive to enhance our "Community Policing Strategies" by seeking input from the town’s residents to develop a unified strategy focused on crime prevention. To accomplish this, we will gather information from the community as we focus on community engagement through our community policing philosophy. 

As the newest member of the Long Beach Police Department team, I fully appreciate, respect and value the experience, dedication, knowledge, and personal insight from each member of the department. Their combined years of experience and dedication to the community will assist us in achieving exceptional results with our goals and new initiatives. As an emergency first responder professional for the past 29 years, I look forward to the opportunity of sharing my broad-based experience and knowledge in the Law Enforcement field with the members of the Long Beach Police department.  

To serve the members of the Department to the best of my ability, my personal goal is to provide an environment where the officers know they are supported by their community, which will inspire them to achieve a safer community for our residents and the many visitors to the Long Beach community each year.

Our team will be committed to providing the utmost professional public safety services in a courteous, efficient, and accessible manner to all. Each member of the department will conduct themselves with the highest degree of ethical behavior and professional conduct during the performance of their law enforcement duties.

As your Chief, I look forward to and shall embrace the opportunities ahead of us in this new year. As we continue to battle this very unfortunate worldwide pandemic, please remain positive, safe, and healthy as we all wish for a healthy and happier “New Year” in 2021.
